Tasmanian Charter of Health Rights and Responsibilities - Guidelines for Health Service Users and Providers
The current edition was published in July 2006 by a previous Ombudsman (Simon Allston).
The text of the original Tasmanian Charter is available on this website.
Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights
The Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights (external link) describes what consumers, or someone for whom they care, can expect when receiving health care.
A detailed guide (external link) and a summary booklet (external link) are designed to support consumers to better understand their healthcare rights and what they can expect from the Australian healthcare system. A shared understanding of healthcare rights is important for providing safe and high-quality care. These resources can be used by consumers and clinicians to guide discussions about healthcare rights.
The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare has developed a range of resources (external link) to support people to understand and use the Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights.
